Things I wasted my time on this morning...

I am sitting in my pajamas, avoiding getting ready for the day. In my quest to simplify my life, I have managed to schedule myself for working six days a week. I am not sure how that happened. Probably brain lesions.

I have made some coffee (yum) and am wearing the fuzzy socks I got from Wal-Mart last night. I think that I am going to give a pair to everyone in the family rather than sweep. We will all have to scuffle around. It is cold this morning, as we experienced our first rain of the season yesterday. I think that most of the stuff in the backyard got under cover. I can't even remember the last time it rained in here in Southern California.

After reading and returning Important Professional Email, I went to a couple of sites that I look in on from time to time. I admit to a fondness for LOL cats. Don't ask me why. The website is icanhascheezeburger (which I would hot-link, but would have to remember the steps).

I love the awful literacy. There are rules to build a lol cat picture. Anyway ...

I copied this from my daughter. It is fun to play! I love vocabulary tests!

FreeRice.com combines two great ideas - good vocabulary and feeding the poor! You’re shown a word and asked to define it from a list of choices. For every word you identify correctly, the website donates 20 grains or rice through the United Nations to impoverished people. That may not sound like a lot, but it adds up, especially if more people play. It’s really fun to play, and it keeps track of your score, so you can play against your friends for bragging rights.

Off to work!

If you have time, check out my sister's blog. She just got on a blogroll! Her blog is on the list, or you can check it out at

And I know I owe you a post.

Bob, those edgy kitties are the biz. Love that sharp and wry site. I wonder if those pictures would work with dogs at all, or if they would need to be specifically screened mutts, who had some actual stage presence, whilst cats have it by the bucketful, just by being themselves. Am now thinking of any quirky, edgy, impassive and smart looking breeds of dog, which might qualify. Hmmm.

watch this space...

There may be none. It might have to be cats and only cats. But your post has got me intrigued now, and will have to go seek a conclusion to my ponderings (without going near YT.:) )

Hope yer day at work goes well! The family sweepy socks idea is great. I love that type of squishy sock. Have a lovely pinky mauve paire on the settee which came to light the other day, and will just go put them on. Comfy sox rock.

I looked. There are none. I should have known. Oh well...I sort of like dogs, and wanted to give them a chance, but there you go. Horses for courses.

Scotch Terriers are quite mean and edgy, but Scotch collies aren't. Lassie was loyal and had a poignant, if dubiuously polyphonic bark - but she couldn't carry a quip about Beowulf in anglo-saxon.

You make me laugh, both you and Rowan! Dogs and horses would work well, the problem is they will not put themselves into ridiculous positions as readily as the cat. Just saying...
Comfy socks are the best thing in the world! I don't get to buy comfy socks here....on my little sand spit.
Just posted a new blog, check it out!
Love you!

Yes, I am not sure why cats lend themselves to this sort of mockery, but they do. Maybe it is because when they ... er ... let their hair down it is funny. The irresistible desire to poke fun at the dignified. A dog has more of a long-suffering attitude, but you know that they would do what you wanted, just because you wanted it. Dogs are like that.

Horses? Just not silly enough.

Hey Lassie, will go check out your new post!

For anyone who wants to go look -- right side of the page "A Lass in Alaska".

Howdy, haverers! I just wanted to point out for the record that loldogs have their very own category on icanhascheezburger.com:

Hi Jen! I will go look. I really want a dog or a cat now, just so I can put a LOL pet pic together. I have two goldfish in murky water...am imagining that their comments would be pretty incisive and edgy, were they given the gift of speech. Sigh. Now I feel appropriately guilty at the creatures' algae-tastic habitat, and am makin a point of reminding myself to clean them out tomorrow. They are spitting vitriol at me in devastatingly biting quips, behind my back now. Sorry guys! I will fish out the gravel vacuum soonly. Promise...

Bob, think it would be fun indeed to make a LOL cat pic. Do peeps send them in? I was assuming that the site owner came up with them all. have you thought about making and posting one? I can't see the stuff that you borrowed from your daughter. Am just getting a wee square with a cross, but can't left click and open.

You are right about the undermining of feline dignity thing - the normally effete and unperturbed cats looking awry and discombobulated. The moggy squished under the sofa cushion with the bulging orbits is most chuckleworthy. Love the Beowulf piccy soo much too. That cat is sooo comically disdainful.

Must visit the Freerice site!

All work and no play - not very good Doctor.

I'm having a little give-away over on my blog. No gimicks, just fun. It's my way of celebrating the anniversary of my blog.
